Our Transitional Kindergarten Program
Scofield Christian School is the only Christian school in Lake Highlands offering a Transitional Kindergarten (TK) program. Our Transitional Kindergarten is a bridge between Pre-K and Kindergarten and designed for students who would benefit from another year or the ‘gift of time’ for cognitive and social-emotional development.
When appropriate, an extra year before Kindergarten helps a child learn to enjoy school, take on responsibility, and become a life-long learner. The focus of Scofield’s Transitional Kindergarten program is hands-on, center-based learning with a focus on emerging literacy and math. It is more rigorous than our Pre-K 4 program, but not quite as advanced as Kindergarten.
We formally assess all applicants beginning at age four. The results from that assessment and our discussions in the Family Interview will help determine if a child is a good fit for Transitional Kindergarten.
